The Pineapple Videobar smygstartar höstens videoprogram på Galleri Skånes Konstförening i Malmö under tre onsdagskvällar redan nu i april. Galleri Skånes Konstförening har inbjudit den mobila Videobaren att förtöja sina aktiviteter i lokalerna på Bragegatan under hösten 2006. Vi kommer, med inriktning på video och rörlig bild, att presentera en serie med arrangemang. Det kommer att bli videoprogram, enskilda konstnärspresentationer, musik med mera. På begäran presenteras nu i april delar av arkivet i repris plus några nya godbitar. Programmen startar ca en kvart efter att dörrarna har öppnats. Onsdag 5 april, klockan 19.00 THE BIKE EVENING Välkomna till premiären på Galleri Skånes Konstförening och till den fantastiska cykelkvällen. Två dokumentära filmer kommer att visas som på olika sätt belyser USA's förhållande till cykeln. Första filmen Frihjulare är gjord av Malmö-filmaren Christopher Nelson som åkte med ett cykel- kollektiv i en buss mellan San Fransisco och festivalen i Tultepec, Mexico. En samling cykel- konstnärer, en freakshow, som utmed vägen stannar och jonglerar med sina ombyggda hojjar som närmast kan beskrivas som cykelns svar på motorcyklisternas choppers. (Längd: ca 40 min) Den andra filmen kan sammanfattas i sentensen "Cyklar du i USA räknas du som kriminell eller kommunist". Filmen heter Still We Ride och beskriver en tradition av cykelparader i regi av av Critical Mass på Manhattan i New York City. Plötsligt i aug 2004 får Bush-administrationen för sig att det är en subversiv verksamhet och polisen slår till och arresterar 264 cyklister vilket är en av de största massarresteringarna i New Yorks historia. Ung som gammal slås ned, arresteras med hand- bojor och hamnar i rätten. Polisen mosar cyklar, slänger upp dem på lastbilsflak och tar fram kraftigaste vinkelslipen för att ta skära loss allt som andas cykel utmed trottoarerna. Men detta var bara början! The Pineapple Videobar is, already now in April during three Wednesday-evenings, coming sneaking and kicking off the upcoming video program of the autumn at the gallery Skånes Konstförening in Malmö. The gallery has invited the mobile Videobar to moor its activities in the localities of Skånes Konst during the autumn of 2006. We will, with the aim and direction towards video and moving pictures, present a series of events which concentrates around video-programs, artist presentations, music/ sounds and much more. Therefore The Pineapple is already now pushing for what to come! On request presents now in April a re-run of the Archive plus some new and delightful movies. The programs start fifteen minutes after the doors are opened. Wednesday 5 April at 7 pm THE BIKE EVENING Welcome to the first night at the Gallery Skånes Konstförening and to the fantastic bicycle evening. Two documentaries will be shown which in different ways illustrate the condition of biking in the USA. The first film Frihjulare (Free wheelers) is made by Christopher Nelson, a film-maker living in Malmö, who went together with a collective of bikers on a busride between San Fransisco and the festival of Tultepec in Mexico. A bunch of bicycle artists, a freakshow, which along the road stops and juggling with their rebuilt bikes which at the nearest can be described as the bicycle's answer to the chopper's dream of the motor-cycle world. (Length: approx. 40 min) The second film can be summerized in the maxim "biking in the States, you're either a criminal or a communist". The name of the film is Still We Ride and it describes the Critical Mass' bicycle parades at Manhattan in NY City. Suddenly in August 2004 the Bush-administration believes it's a subversiv activity and the cops made a crackdown on the peaceful parade and arrest 264 bikers, one of the largest mass arrests in New York City's history. Young as old are knocked to the street, arrested with handcuffs and finally ended up in the court. The police smashes bikes, throughing them up on truck's platforms, and using the heaviest power saw-machines to set the streets free from bikes. But this was just the beginning!
